On BBC Radio 4 Extra this week .. Thursday 19th & Friday 20th December, the TWO-PART Classic Serial of 'WATERSHIP DOWN' gets a repeat airing. The production marks the 30th Anniversary of the books publication. Originally broadcast in 2002 on BBC Radio 4, it was recorded at the much missed Studio 3 at BBC Pebble Mill. It was adapted for radio by Neville Teller (MBE) and direction was by Peter Leslie Wild. I remember it was a challenging but joyous recording process, very happy memories. Many stalwarts of BBC Radio Drama were featured including a young Felicity Jones (Doctor Who, The Amazing Spider Man 2 & A Monster Calls). I played Silver, described in the book as a large rabbit with grey fur (it was radio!), great fun to play. I also remember the cast often joking about the lack of female rabbits (does) in the production.

Sean remembers meeting Spectrum's Captain Blue aka Ed Bishop ...
Sean meets American actor Ed Bishop whilst recording the independent radio drama 'Green Belt'. |
My post from a few days ago when I mentioned Captain Scarlet reminded me of the time, when as a young actor, I had the pleasure working with actor Ed Bishop on an independent radio drama project. I love this picture for a few reasons, firstly because it proves that I once had hair and secondly I love the look on Ed's face, complete disdain!! Ed is remembered for being the ultimate Yank abroad, basing himself in this country, and was mostly called upon to play archetypal American characters on British television and film. He appeared in two Bond films; 'YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE' and 'DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER', as well as Stanley Kubrick's science fiction masterpiece '2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY'. But he was perhaps best known for his involvement in TWO Gerry Anderson productions; voicing Captain Blue in 'CAPTAIN SCARLET AND THE MYSTERONS' and playing Commander Ed Straker in 'UFO', as the head of SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization) who defended the Earth from an alien threat. Childhood hero, completely!
Ed Bishop as Ed Straker in 'UFO', Captain Blue in 'CAPTAIN SCARLET' and appearances in 'YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE' & '2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY'.

Sean's part in the movie spin-off based on the best selling game series ... 'ULTRAMARINES: A WARHAMMER 40,000 MOVIE' is released on DVD ..
'ULTRAMARINES: A WARHAMMER 40,000 MOVIE' is released on DVD. |
'ULTRAMARINES: A WARHAMMER 40,000 MOVIE' is released on DVD on June 17th. I was thrilled to be asked to provide animation guide voices for this all star CGI film. Alongside the multi-talented Mike Hayley who was the Voice of The Mysterons & Colonel White in the CGI reboot of Gerry Anderson's 'CAPTAIN SCARLET', we shared all the character voices in the film between us. I think I remember being Terence Stamp and Donald Sumpter amongst many. The session was exhausting but very satisfying, the whole film all done in a single day in studio! The animators then went away and started to weave their magic. The film was produced by Codex Pictures under licence from Games Workshop. Writer was Dan Abnett, who went on to write the 'GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY' comic on which the recent box office hit was based. Director was Martyn Pick.
Some of cast of 'ULTRAMARINES: A WARHAMMER 40,000 MOVIE': John Hurt, Terence Stamp, Sean Pertwee and Donald Sumpter. Here's the films trailer, pretty spectacular by all accounts. |

Sean to be 'heard' on new BBC 2 Drama 'PEAKY BLINDERS' this Autumn.
An all star cast comes to BBC2 in the brand new six part drama set in 1919 Birmingham. 'PEAKY BLINDERS' starts this September. |
I had a great but exhausting time doing some Group ADR work for the upcoming BBC2 drama ‘PEAKY BLINDERS’. It stars Cillian Murphy (Inception, The Dark Knight), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Annabelle Wallis (X-Men: First Class, The Tudors, The Musketeers) and Helen McCrory (Hugo, Harry Potter, The Queen) and the first two episodes will premiere at this years Edinburgh International Film Festival. Listen out for me when the 6 part series airs in the Autumn.

Taking Ambridge!!! |
Keith will continue his jail sentence for conspiracy and arson after he burned down David and Ruth Archers barn last summer, in a storyline which became known as 'Farmagedden'!
I am looking forward to Keith’s release for obvious reasons. Watch this space for further news!!
